1975
McCrory & Williams, Inc. is founded in Mobile, Alabama by William “Bill” McCrory, P.E., and Richard “Dick” Williams, P.L.S., with a commitment to quality engineering and surveying services.
1997
Following the passing of Bill McCrory, Dick Williams continues to lead the firm through its next phase of growth.
2000
Upon Dick Williams’s retirement, McCrory & Williams is acquired by senior staff members William “Billy” Wilkerson, P.E., and Merlin Miller, P.L.S., ushering in more than two decades of sustained success.
2018
McCrory & Williams begins operating as a Woman-Owned Business. Carah Vuncannon is appointed President, with Merlin Miller serving as Corporate Secretary/Treasurer and Billy Wilkerson as Vice President.
2023
Merlin Miller retires after a distinguished career with the firm.
Today
McCrory & Williams continues its legacy of excellence with experienced leadership, long-standing client relationships, and a focus on the future.

Since 1975, McCrory & Williams, Inc. has proudly served the Gulf Coast region as a trusted engineering and surveying firm. Partnering with MAWSS for Two Decades
McCrory & Williams has provided engineering services to the Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS) for more than 20 years and has been a valued engineering consultant throughout that time. Serving as the Sponsor for this year’s Mentor Protégé Program is a meaningful opportunity for our firm and reflects our dedication to supporting the growth and success of emerging businesses.
A Legacy of Supporting Diversity
Our commitment to supporting diverse and underutilized businesses with MAWSS dates back to the firm’s early years under William (“Billy”) Wilkerson’s leadership as President and Owner. During the 1990s, Mr. Wilkerson played an active, integral role in helping to develop and champion MAWSS’s UBE/DBE program. Alongside a small group of MAWSS staff and consulting engineers, he helped lay the foundation for the program that continues to thrive today, pioneering the path for supplier diversity initiatives that have shaped the region’s infrastructure industry.
Continuing the Tradition Today
Twenty years later, under the leadership of Carah Vuncannon, P.E., McCrory & Williams is now a certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WBE) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) under the MAWSS Supplier Diversity Program. We continue to uphold our long-standing commitment to diversity, inclusion, and supporting the development of underutilized businesses.
